THE JAMES BOND NEXT MOVIE

BOND 24

Sam Mendes Speaks About Bond 24

2 May 2014 6:30 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »
I am a huge Bond film fan. I have all the movies from Connery to Brosnan... on VHS. Don’t laugh, that’s just how I roll. The rest I have on DVD. Anyway, Skyfall is one of my favoriteBond films by far. You can tell that Sam Mendes is a fan of the franchise, and he directsthat way. I was thrilled to hear that he would be back for what is now titled Bond 24.
Recently in an interview with Charlie Rose, Mendes spoke a little bit about what brought him back to a franchise that he originally said he would be leaving. Mendes starts talking about Bond 24 at about the 17 minute mark of the video, which you can watch below thanks to Hulu.

Sam Mendes Explains How 'Skyfall' Will Tie into the Next James Bond Movie

1 May 2014 11:00 AM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »
We almost lost Skyfall director Sam Mendes to the stage last March when he told press he would be focusing on his theatrical commitments instead of directing the next James Bond movie, dubbed Bond 24. Eager to capitalize on Skyfall’s smashing success (a handsome  $1.1 billion worldwide), producers managed to reel him back in to shoot the film later this year, aiming for a November 2015 release. The extremely busy director recently appeared on Charlie Rose where he discussed Bond 24 and offered a few hints about the future of Bond. Previously, it was believed that Skyfall would be a two-part installment in the long-running series. However, Mendes has revealed that although Bond 24 will have a similar feel to Skyfall, it is not a continuation of the movie. He also noted...

Sam Mendes Explains His Return To ‘Bond 24′

1 May 2014 6:08 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »
Aside from an admittedly rather convincing hoax trailer, word on the next James Bond film has been rather muted since Sam Mendes was confirmed to return to the director’s chair last July. Mendes was not originally intending to return but since changed his mind, and now he’s spoken out about why he decided to helm a follow-up to 2012′s Skyfall.
Speaking to Us chat show host Charlie Rose, Mendes said it was primarily a matter of unfinished business:
‘I started a number of stories that were incomplete. I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q, I cast a new Tanner. I felt like there was a way to create the second part of a two-part story. And then I started to get re-interested again when they agreed to wait a little longer, and not go immediately and not go with two movies but with one, »

Sam Mendes has been talking to Us chat show host Charlie Rose about what attracted him back to the director's chair for Bond 24, with the primary motivation seeming to be a sense of unfinished business. Bond 24 To Have Strong Ties To Skyfall

30 April 2014 1:26 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »
The James Bond franchise isn't really one known for continuity, with most of the films in the series largely operating as individual stories, but that's something that has changed greatly in the Daniel Craig era. Quantum of Solace picked up immediately after the events portrayed inCasino Royale, and now director Sam Mendes has admitted that a great deal of the next 007 adventure, now simply known as Bond 24, will tie back to what we saw happen to the super spy in Skyfall. Picked up on by Digital Spy, the British filmmaker recently appeared on The Charlie Rose Show, and during the course of his interview with the host he revealed a few very interesting details about his next Bond adventure, specifically how it will tie back to the movie he made in 2012. "I started a number of stories that were incomplete," Mendes admitted while explaining why he decided to »

Sam Mendes Says 'Bond 24' Not A Direct Sequel To 'Skyfall,' Won't Be Two-Part Movie

30 April 2014 1:23 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »
"Bond 24" is gearing up for release in 2015, and aside from "Star Wars: Episode 7," it's one of the most secretive movie projects coming down the pipeline. Rumors have been plenty, but actual fact has been scarce, though writer John Logan has teased that the film "continues the themes of 'Skyfall' " and hitting "Charlie Rose," Sam Mendes has pretty much confirmed that approach. The director clarifies that the movie is not a direct followup to "Skyfall," but that the lure of returning to the franchise was in developing the characters further. "I cast a new M, I cast a new Moneypenny, I cast a new Q. I felt there was a second part of a two-part story... " he explained. He also poured water on the rumors that the next entry would actually be a two-parter. "[It helped] when [Eon] agreed to wait a little longer and not go immeadiately - not »

Skyfall Director Sam Mendes Explains Why he Returned to Helm James Bond 24

30 April 2014 1:11 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »
In the following video interviewSkyfall director Sam Mendes explains why exactly he decided to return to helm Bond 24 after numerous reports stated that he had decided to move on to other projects (despite the fact that he was responsible for the only movie in the franchise to top $1 billion at the box office).
At around the 17 minute mark, Mendes explains that he, “felt there was a second part of a two-part story” after he introduced a new M, Q and Moneypenny, later revealing that hearing the first audience’s reaction to Skyfall (an “orgy of nostalgia”) during moments such as the return of theAston Martin DB5 went a long way in persuading him to return.
At one point, there was of course talk of John Logan following up Skyfall with a two-part story which would shoot back to back. However, it now sounds as if those plans have been scrapped. »

Sam Mendes Says Bond 24 Will Be Connected To Skyfall

30 April 2014 10:45 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »
One of the many features of the James Bond franchise is its tendency to avoid on-going plot arcs and references to previous films. Other than a few recurring characters and references to organizations like Spectre, each Bond film up until 2006′s Casino Royale was mostly stand-alone. Then things began to change, which had probably as much to do with the current tendency in Hollywood to create interlocking sequels as it had to do with the actual demands of the James Bond universe. Now, director Sam Mendes has basically stated that the as-yet-unnamed Bond 24 will build on questions left unanswered in Skyfall.
In discussing Bond on the Charlie Rose show, Mendes explained that he began some stories that did not come to any conclusion in Skyfall. Those stories will be carried through into Bond 24, with characters aging and being affected by the events of the previous film. It’s »

Mendes Talks "Skyfall" & Bond 24 Link

During the release of "Skyfall", the film's director Sam Mendes said he had no plans to return to helm the next entry in the James Bond series. At the same time, Eon seemed to be making early plans with "Bond 24" and "Bond 25" to be a two-parter that could've gone into production back-to-back.
Months later, Mendes suddenly became interested again whilst talk of a "Bond 25" and a back-to-back shoot faded away. Now, speaking withCharlie Rose, the director explained why he's back on as director and says that plans have changed regarding "Bond 24".
Mendes now indicates that the movie will be a follow-up to "Skyfall," with the impact of events in that film coming into consideration here (though not as "direct" a sequel as "Quantum of Solace" was to "Casino Royale"):

Director Sam Mendes On Why He Came Back For 'Bond 24'

30 April 2014 9:59 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »
Initially Sam Mendes wasn't going to direct Bond 24, but thankfully, after MGM and Columbia agreed to give him a little time to breathe between films, he agreed to return to the director's chair for the Skyfall sequel. Mendes went on Charlie Rose this month and shared a bit of information on the much-anticipated Bond sequel.
Mendes told the seasoned interviewer that he decided to return, after initially turning down the job due to time constraints, because he had started "a number of stories" like casting a new M, Moneypenny and Q. He also remembered the reaction he got to Skyfall when he first sat with an audience.
Mendes told Charlie Rose:
"For the first time characters were allowed to age and they were allowed to acknowledge the past, and the history–in a kind of sly, mischievous way–the history of the franchise that they've been part of. »

Speaking with Charlie Rose, the director explains that he simply did not want to return to the world of James Bond after completing what some fans feel is the best entry in the series in over two decades. Last summer we got caught up in the search for the next James Bond director. After directing SkyfallSam Mendes announced he was moving on and would not return. But months later, he changed his mind, and then officially signed on for Bond 24, which is due in theaters November 2015. What made him change his mind? Well, "I didn't want to do it again initially," Mendes admits in a recent interview with Charlie Rose (via SlashFilm). "At first I didn't have time to work out" details, he says, but it was the "orgy of nostalgia" and continuation of the story that changed his mind. Bond 24 is a connected continuation of the characters in Skyfall, but will only be one movie, rather than a two-part story split between 24 & 25. Director Sam Mendes has been talking about Skyfall, and about James Bond 24...
Mild spoilers for Skyfall lie ahead.
Production on James Bond 24 is set to start later this year, with director Sam Mendes tackling his second 007 movie after the raging success of Skyfall. At first, of course, he turned the job down, and he only signed up when more time was found, and one or two changes were made.
He's been talking about that on The Charlie Rose Show in the Us too, and he's revealed what it was that got him back to the world of James Bond for another movie. "I didn't want to do it again initially", he admitted, citing time as a factor. But then he said "I started a number of stories that were incomplete. ‘James Bond 24′ Director Sam Mendes Talks About Finishing ‘Skyfall’ Story

30 April 2014 7:33 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »
James Bond might have been on the big screen for over fifty years, but he hasn’t allowed his age (or occasional change of visage) to hold him back. After so many car chases, fight scenes, passionate love affairs and showdowns with nefarious bad guys, he’s probably earned a holiday or two.
There’s no rest for the wickedly charming, however, and Daniel Craig will return in the role of James Bond next year, in a sequel that’s been dubbed James Bond 24 until it gets something more official. Also returning is director Sam Mendes, who first entered the franchise with 2012′sSkyfall and ended up handling quite a few major changes to ...
